For the third time in the history the festival will be opened by laureates of Plácido Domingo’s World Opera Competition “Operalia”. The top of the program will be Masters of Italian and French opera: Donizetti, Verdi, Ponchielli, Puccini and Gounod.

Gregoriant chant, the music bound to liturgy will be on the program. Gregorian chant perfects the mass with its plain dignity whereas polyphony enriches the mass with more festive sound.

Colourful music patchwork of famous opera arias, Dvořák’s Gypsy Songs and selection of his Slavonic Dances was prepared by young mezzo-soprano and Prague piano quartet. The unusual evening will be completed by Ástor Piazzolla’s tangos.

Salve Regina, one of the most popular prayers was inspiration for many composers. Among others two versions of this piece, composed by Scarlatti and Pergolesi, will be part of the program. Two solo voices and chamber orchestra will remind us the upcoming Assumption of Mary.

As one of the few jazz vocalists in Europe, Dan Bárta combines excellent vocal technique with original repertoire. In the concert the phenomenal singer will present overview of his work.

Stabat Mater, the medieval poem about suffering Mother of God under the crucifix became inspiration for artists of all genres, styles and epochs. The closing concert brings one of the most famous settings in dramatic version by maestro of Italian bel canto.
