Montserrat Caballé, perhaps the greatest contemporary opera singer, is one of the few artists able to blend opera with popular music. Her duet “Barcelona” with Freddie Mercury which remains emblematic of the 1992 Olympic games to this day captured the hearts of many. On 7 August you will have the unique opportunity

Masterpieces that survived centuries will resound the ancient walls of St. Margaret Church and immerse us into pious and humble contemplation. Let us lift the veil of history and listen to Lasso’s, Palestrina’s and Mozart’s sacred music performed by one of our most illustrious children’s choirs. Kantiléna Brno earned many international laurels and performed with eminent artists and orchestras. Its conductor and artistic director Jakub Klecker guarantees the choir’s superb skill.

Ida Kelarova and Jazz famelija

Ida Kelarova – vocal
Desiderius Dužda – vocal, guitar
Roman Jánoška – violin
Ondrej Krajňák – piano
Tomáš Baroš – double bass
Marián Ševčík – percussion

In the words of Ida Kelarova, whose music combines Roma harmonies with Latin American rhythms and the sound of a jazz band, “... in today’s world it is important to be joyful. We do not need possessions or material goods for that. It is enough to realise that we live on this Earth together and it does not matter who and where we are. What matters is that we exist – here and now …
aven bachtale.” Add one big heart and the result is joy beyond description...

“At the Cross her station keeping, stood the mournful Mother weeping, close to her son to the last.”  Thus opens the sequence Stabat mater. When Pergolesi, aged twenty-six, set it to music,
he knew he only had a few months to live. One of the most popular works of this Italian composer and of sacred music in general will be sung by the excellent Czech Philharmonic Choir Brno in the splendid acoustics of the Telč castle courtyard.

The last evening of the festival will make the sky above the Jaroměřice chateau dance with the lively rhythms of Rossini’s melodies which quite literally ask for a visual treatment. What is hidden in Rossini’s music will be shown not only by the Košice opera company, but also by the light magic of leading fireworks artists. We can look forward to a unique symbiosis of music, light effects and distinctive baroque architecture. And to conclude we prepared a sweet surprise which refers back to Rossini’s own gourmet taste.
