2003 Peter Dvorský International Music Festival
The 2003 Peter Dvorský International Music Festival in Jaroměřice nad Rokytnou is now in its fifth year.

This charming Moravian town is an ideal place for such a festival – set in magical surroundings close to the Austrian border. The remarkable history of Jaroměřice is indelibly imprinted onto the history of Central European culture as a Baroque pearl of Moravia.

The personality of the renowned Slovakian singer attracts music lovers from across the whole region to the imposing stately chateau in Jaroměřice. This includes nearby Austria, which makes the title’s “international“ embrace not only the participants but also the audience.

The festival presents a combination of artistic events focussing on an impressive display of singing including large orchestras and prominent conductors.

Unlike the previous “June“ years, this festival is scheduled for two weeks in August with three open-air concerts in the castle gardens, the traditional so-called “cathedral nocturne“ in the magnificent baroque interior of the Castle´s church of St Markéta, and a concert by the most successful participants of the festival´s vocal master classes in the castle’s main auditorium.

These master classes, lead by Peter Dvorský and Eva Blahová, are another aspect of the festival: the recognition they maintain in the singing world attracts growing number of young talents.
The concert given by the young artists will be preceded by a concert at the castle of Telč and at the Holy Cross Ascension Church in Jihlava.

The accompanying art exhibition will include photography and sculptures in wood and bronze in the castle and its gardens. It will be open throughout the festival, along with a presentation of new Skoda cars in the castle grounds.

A fireworks display accompanying the closing concert will be accompanied by Händel´s well-known Music for the Royal Fireworks.
