Leo Svárovský
conductor
“...The excellently instrumented symphonic poem Night On Bare Mountain by Modest Petrovich Mussorgsky was conceived particularly as an ingenious play with sound and an almost inexhaustible range of its colours where the plasticity shielding of individual instrument groups with trumpets and trombones resulted in beautiful sound and melodically graceful clarinet and flute solos, united in a duet at the end. A replete sound, sonant pianissimos and a distinctive leadership of individual voices in a dense score also accompanied a very well performed Beethoven's 5th Symphony C minor, Op. 67, which Svárovský mastered by heart... His elegant, yet absolutely rhythmically precise gestures which gave away the education of noble Václav Neumann thus led the orchestra through the whole score with grace as well as with respect of the smallest details in phrasing or accentuation."
