Peter Mikuláš
The Slovak bass Peter Mikuláš graduated from singing studies at the Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts in Bratislava under Viktória Stracenská. He is holder of awards from international vocal competitions of A. Dvořák in Karlovy Vary (1978), P. I. Tchaikovsky in Moscow (1982) and Miriam Helin in Helsinki (1984). Since 1978 he has been a resident soloist with the Slovak National Theatre in Bratislava where he made his debut as Colline (La Boheme).
He is a guest in the National Theatre in Prague, the Metropolitan Opera and many European opera houses including Teatro dell'Opera in Roma. During his career he has built an extensive opera repertoire including Fiesco (Simon Boccanegra), Philipp (Don Carlo), Mefisto (Mefistofele by A. Boito as well as Faust by Ch. Gounod), E. Suchoň's Svätopluk, Berg's Wozzeck, Leporello (Don Giovanni), Dulcamara (L'Elisir d'Amore), Don Magnifico (La Cenerentola), Gremin (Eugene Onegin), Boris Godunov (Boris Godunov), Kecal (The Bartered Bride) or Falstaff (Falstaff).
Peter Mikuláš gives regular concerts with the Czech and Slovak Philharmonic Orchestras, Orchestre de Paris, Wiener Philharmoniker, RTV Madrid and Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra. Among the many festivals he attended there are the International Music Festival Prague Spring, Salzburger Festspiele and BBC-Proms Festival in London. He has given concerts in the Wiener Musikverein, Royal Albert Hall in London, Gewandhaus Leipzig or Academia di Santa Cecilia Roma.
He cooperates with a number of outstanding conductors, such as G. Albrecht, V. Aškenazi, J. Bělohlávek, J. Hrůša, S. Bychkov, A. Ceccato, Ch. Dutoit, C. M. Giullini, T. Guschlbauer, L. Pešek, S. Rattle or H. Rilling.
